Painters in Macomb County

Macomb County is post-war brick ranch country, running from Warren up the I-94 corridor to the Lake St. Clair shoreline. Much of it was built in a fifteen-year window, which makes the work unusually consistent.

What the work looks like here

Warren, Roseville, and Eastpointe were built out fast between 1950 and 1965. The result is street after street of brick ranches and bungalows where the paintable surface is trim, soffit, fascia, eaves, garage, and porch. The body is masonry. These are efficient exteriors to quote and quick to run, and the common failure is always the same: south-facing fascia and the garage door.

Sterling Heights is a generation later. Larger colonials and ranches from the 1970s and 1980s, more painted siding, more two-storey elevations, and most of them now on their second or third exterior.

St. Clair Shores is the exception. Wind coming off Lake St. Clair drives moisture and UV onto the exposed elevation far harder than it hits the same house four miles inland, and the lake-facing side of a house there routinely needs work the other three sides do not.
